Gen Yanagisawa has been developing
this unusual single-seat helicopter for nearly four years. Its
contra-rotating blades are fixed, offering no adjustment in drag or pitch.
You climb or descend by adjusting throttle opening, roll via weight-shift,
yaw by differentially braking one or the other rotor. An electronic gyro
helps stop the controls becoming hyper-sensitive and four small
twin-cylinder engines ensure that you are unlikely ever to find yourself
without power. Although the machine is flying it is still not being
marketed. |
